I recently experienced this with a very close relationship. And in many ways, I feel like I did not let go soon enough, but I did, eventually. I hope there is enough beauty left and that it adds to his new life of possibilities and that he remembers me fondly and that my love and time (I wish there had been more) and attention was enough to mean something now and always.
