Everyone wants to belong, to be a part of a community, a cluster of people with simlar beliefs. It’s a psychological blanket and brief respite from the chaos of fear (and basically, not knowing who you are). That inclination is built into our DNA to ensure our survival. It’s natural.
Ironically, the next stage of our evolution requires us to go it alone on an internal ‘Naked and Afraid’ journey (more on this later). Only, then is even it possible to tap our humanity and in turn, authentically connect with others.
Be bold. Be brave. Be an outcast.
And then come back.
And then be the silence.
“The more you strive to be like others, to belong and blend in, the further away you are from truth.” -Amy Larson, amyjalapeno.com
