“Peace is not had by positive thoughts or affirmations. Those are psychological band-aids, not deep healers of the soul. Peace comes from the bird’s eye view and a gathering of facts for a broader understanding. And that is only possible when you let go of what you are certain of, what you think you know.” -Amy Larson, amyjalapeno.com
Actually, I believe positive thoughts and affirmations are a precursor to peace – a stepping stone. On many occasions I have found comfort with the work of Louise Hay. Her work is more than affirmations. Her core message is that if you can get someone to love who they are, everything else falls into place.
Positive thoughts are stepping-stones for that, but not the end all. I have witnessed (in myself and with others) that some affirmations and “happy thoughts” can hypnotize the affirm-er into a state of denial. Chasing the “good” and running away from the “seemingly bad” in life only brings more conflict, more opposition, more running.
But to realize that you are all of it – that the good and bad aspects of you are what make you human – that both are teachers. And to run away from either is to deny your humanity and connection with others.
Just thought I would add that clarification – something I would like to do more of on this blog and plan to from here on out. The Kickstarter project for the publication of selected daily hot! quotes will have this type of expanded insight for each one, if they don’t have it already.
Updates for the above mentioned INNER FREEDOM IS HOT. Kickstarter publication are posted here.
Always good to think of what matters in life when dealing with issues. Overviews are the best!
