The desire to “save someone” is merely reaching outside ourselves for validation and using our interactions (good and bad) with others to define our worth.
The kindest attribute we can cultivate with others is to take on our own load (not theirs) – to be accountable for every word, act, and thought we contributed (or didn’t) to the relationship. Saving them will only diminish the power of our own accountability and enable their weakness.
“The eagerness to save others is a strong indication you are the one that needs saving.” -Amy Larson, amyjalapeno.com
