“Extraordinary focus is only made possible by periods of intense rest.” -Amy Larson, amyjalapeño.com
I think multitasking is over rated. Sure it comes in handy, but in my book it is nothing to rave about. It can leave you exhausted with only bits accomplished and progress spread thin over multiple areas.
Lengthy intervals of focusing on one thing (with brief periods of intense rest) makes one an expert (and a sort of creative craftsman) in that particular area.
This is a really great quote. I believe with my whole heart that after a period of rest, at least in my case, one becomes the most creative. For instance, I take Saturdays off. I pull the plug on my online activity (fully) and spend the time with the family. I then find when I wake up Sunday morning, I have all this creative energy that I can’t contain. It’s really so beneficial having that one day off. So, yeah, I believe taking time away, resting will drive me to better things. It’s logical since the mind can’t keep going 24/7. That’s a sure way to burn out.
As always, keep pumping out these great quotes and I’ll keep coming back, Amy!
