I do believe in support, in communities and having a posse. But there are significant moments in our lives when we must, as King Arthur did, enter our own Black Forest to face our insecurities and fears alone. (And not this Black Forest)
Instead of reaching for the first fix you can find – a person, a drink, or a piece of chocolate cake – try simply standing, sitting, lying still.
Breathe.
Think only of the inhale and exhale.
Find your heartbeat.
Let your thoughts dissolve.
And you are there – in courage, in strength, in the place where endless solutions and possibilities arise. You are home.
