The genuine exploration of one’s self as an individual is the greatest contribution you can make toward humanity and all life. Ironically, inner self-reliance is what makes the whole of humanity stronger.

And to purposefully close off reality, distance yourself from the facts at glaring proximity, and resolutely deny evidence before you is the greatest psychological sickness plaguing the human race.

It will be uncomfortable and difficult (believe me, I know from personal experience) to take responsibility for your own personal inner independence and solicit opportunities of truth based in factual evidence, which lie in every single situation and in the presence of anyone you may encounter. Intentionally seek out the chance to disprove your current reality, so that a better one is found. Your life will take on an elegance of connected events; and things viewed once as horrible become quite beautiful and synchronistic.

That is personal integrity. And the advancement of the human race depends on it.

The destruction of the human race, if it ever is to come about, will not transpire due to technological advancements in science, in artificial intelligence, or advanced weaponry and surveillance. It will occur, because of the man/woman devoid of reason, logic, good sense and insight of treating others kindly that uses the intellectual advancements of mankind to justify their psychological sickness. It will be because of a religious (or any, for that matter) justification where they “know” God (or a voice, or maybe even their understanding of something said by someone they consider a leader, icon, or personal hero) gave them permission to murder, maim, and destroy in the name of righteousness, thus proving their worthiness and devotion to their God/cause.

On a more practical scale, inner self-reliance is the practice of basing reality on things proven by fact and evidence, then being humble enough to make yourself psychologically available to disproof. This is the greatest intellectual contribution you can make to the human race. It is the fertile ground in which the human race will discover its best possibilities and most beautiful potential.
