The power of perception.
There is the fun side of it that makes everything in life possible. But then there’s the unhealthy, co-dependent relationship with perception – our willingness to accept a narrow view, allowing our imagination to fill in the blanks, so that we can maintain an illusion of safety versus a more authentic reality.
And then from that we make these huge determinations affecting the course of our life entirely.
Every time I’ve made assumptions, rather than investigate and go to the source, I have achieved heartache and disappointment (whether I have admitted it to myself or not).
If only we would pause, give our perception a breath and investigate – to give people and situations the benefit of the doubt – to let them have a say and be a contribution to our perception before judging the hell out of them (situations included) – to let them be our teachers, our guides, our muses.
Or is it that we have become so dependent on our fear, our insecurities that we value a narrowed perception above the quality of our character?
What perceptions keep you from that ideal job, long-held dream, that ever eluding relationship?
