Thinking differently and defying convention is not easy. It comes with a tail of ridicule and a casting out.

Many people don’t like their boat rocked. They like to think they can actually keep it steady during a life storm. And they might be able to… with a mild one. They might even save someone in the process, which will further boost their confidence in steadying the craft.

But eventually, a hurricane will cross their path and the realization will come that their boat, their security, the fixed ideas they know as truth mean nothing against the evolutionary impulse of the Universe (a term coined by Eckhart Tolle).

Then they will finally surrender (this is when the art comes). They will fall into awakening, into the eye of the storm, into joy and bliss.
